Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
Defandant in car accident did not respond to lawyer
Well, it might tell you a whole lot that I am coming on here while I DO have a lawyer who is handling my case.
I was involved in a car accident as a by-standard and got injured. The person who caused the accident, per the police report, has since changed his address without a forwarding address. My lawyer is not doing any effort to track him down, and last time I checked with my lawyer, he GOOGLED his name! I know that the guy is living it up at his school (his facebook page says it all).
So what can I legally do to bring this defandant to stand up to his fault and settle the case or have his day at the court? I have his parents address and phone number, but I can't call them or go knock on their door, can I? Should I consider a private detective agency? I am stuck with the lawyer handling my case, and he is not doing anything to help me out nor is he giving me any straight answers. Please help.

You have a right to fire your lawyer. It can be done as simply as writing a letter doing so and demanding a statement of account along with a refund of any unused funds in your trust account.
I would suggest hiring a competent attorney to handle your case with whom you would feel happy and comfortable. There are ways to track people down and in my opinion, it is the attorney's job to do so, not the client's.
Shoot me an email or give me a call if you would like to discuss this further. I office out of Fort Worth.
