deferred adjudification
Can this apply to a DUI charge, not conviction to eliminate having to spend a small fortune on representation?

Re: deferred adjudification
The issue is not whether it applies, but whether the ADA will offer it to you as a plea bargain without being represented by an attorney. The cost of hiring a lawyer is generally much less than the cost of not having an attorney.
