Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
disobey lawful order of peace officer
I drove through an intersection in Houston at about 10:30 at night (the traffic lights were broken) and noticed flashing lights way behind me. I pulled into the right lane and didn't see any officers gesturing, just the police car's lights and I didn't know if they were for me or not, so I turned into the side street and stopped. The ticket was ''failure to stop an uncontrolled intersection'' and ''disobey lawful order of peace officer''. This scares me. What does it mean and can I contest it? (I have an Iowa license and tags)

Re: disobey lawful order of peace officer
It may be worth contesting. It would depend upon what the police officer's version of events are. Your best option would be to hire a lawyer to get a look at the file, and give you an objective opinion of your options, and if it is to not contest it -- then to work out the best possible plea for you.
