Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
Fighting a Possession of Marijuana charge, first offence.
I'm 17 years old and last Friday I was pulled over for not having a license plate on the front of my car. One of my friends had left some Marijuana in my car that I hadn't remembered about at the moment, so when the cop asked if he could search my car I allowed him to. He then, of course, found it and I got charged with possession of Marijuana. This is my first offence and I have actually never even gotten a speeding ticket.
Before getting pulled over I left the a gas station about 1/8 of a mile from my high school. From there I headed towards it and had actually already turned off the road and into the parking lot. (There was a cancer walk going on and I was going to meet some of my friends up there) The cop never turned on his lights to stop me until AFTER I had turned into the parking lot. Since he stopped me once I was already in there, would I be able to fight any of my charges? If so, which ones, and who should I talk to about it?? I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thank you for your time.

What was the officer? HPD, Sheriff, etc. You could have an attorney talk to the DA about deferred adjudication. Was this a felony charge?
