Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

Inadequate Court Notice

Back in December I was hit by an 18-wheeler while driving down the freeway. There were 2 witnesses that stopped at the accident who saw the whole thing and said they would be willing to testify in my defense and did to the DPS Officer when he arrived. Still, the officer put the truck driver's story that it was my fault in his report and filed a citation against me for not staying in my lane, to which I pleaded not guilty. I just received my notice to appear in court LAST NIGHT and the court date is TODAY. I called my witnesses this morning as it was too late to call them last night, and they are unavailable today because they are already at work. I called the court office and the woman said

changing my court date is impossible because it involves too much paperwork. Do I have any options or even a chance of winning if I go in today?

Re: Inadequate Court Notice

This setting was probably not a trial setting. If it is, tell the judge you need a continuance because your witnesses could not come to court on such short notice.
