Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
Lawyer won't release after I paid judgement
I had a judgement for $532.00 against me for damage I caused in an traffic accident. Before I could pay the judgement the lawyer for the plaintiff had my license suspended. I gave the lawyer a certified check for $545.00 and now he won't sign the release I need to get my license re-instated. What can I do to get/make that guy to sign off on the deal?

Find out if the certified check has cleared. If so, get a copy of the canceled check, and attach to a letter to DPS/DMV advising them that the judgment has been satisifed in full. Keep a copy, and send it certified. Also send a copy to the attorney. If you have any other requirements to the state for reinstatement, make sure they are handled (insurance etc).
This should resolve the matter.
