Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
I live in texas, and go to a private university (Baylor). My truck was towed by a towing company the school uses. A while ago my vehicle was towed and they REFUSED to release it back to me before the school had a little chat with me about how "we don't park in the faculty area." As far as I know, a towing agency cannot refuse to release my vehicle to me if I pay the fine, present valid photo ID, and bring/complete TDLR Form No. VSF011-1. Do have a case? Were they wrong? (they basically keep harping on "we're a private university and we can do whatever we want!")

If you are student, there is a contract between you and the university that would spell out the duties and obligations of each of the parties. My guess is that there are rules and regulations that you agreed to follow. The towing company presumably also has a contract with the school and is an agent of the school.
If your contract with the school does not permit them to refuse to release the car after it is towed, you may have a claim against the towing company and the school for the tort of conversion.
