Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
I live in Texas. I recently was issued a citation for no registration on my farm trailer while hauling farm equipment to one of my farms. The state trooper cited me for no registration and gave me two warnings for no safety chains on the trailer and no lights on the trailer. I found the Texas law that exempts a farm trailer from having to have registration and safety chains. The judge told me I had to pay the fine anyway because the trooper let me off easy with the two warnings. Can a judge make me pay the fine for something that is not the law?
