Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

Hi, I just recently got pulled over and was arrested for driving with a suspended license that I was unaware of. Apparently the suspension is because of a New Mexico ticket that I payed late because of money issues since I'm currently a college student. I was wondering if the ticket I received for the suspension holds any ground since I paid the speeding ticket from New Mexico last year already. I live in Texas by the way so the speeding ticket i received was out of state.

Keith Engelke Law Office of S. Keith Engelke

Is the address on your drivers license current? That is where any notice of suspension would have been mailed. You are charged with notice of anything mailed to that address.

Show up in court on time and ask for a court appointed attorney if you cannot afford one.

Make sure the DA knows you are a college student and that the unpaid NM ticket is the reason for the suspension and that the ticket was paid. Bring proof of all of this to court.
