Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
I recieved a warrant notification for a citation on vehicle expired registration back in 1996 for a vehicle i don't own. this was brought to my attention yesterday in the mail. i lived at the same address for 20 years. why now and what can i do

I take it from your question, that you have never owned this vehicle. If that is the case, call the clerk (don't go in) and ask them to run the names, VINs, addresses, etc to verify that they are claiming you were the owner of the car and that the citation was issued to you. Determine if there has been an identity theft issue. If you are unable to resolve it by telephone, you may need to retain an attorney to resolve it on your behalf.
