Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas
Tickets and Alot of College Hours
Not to long ago I received a couple of tickets for speeding and my cousins inspection was out. When I got the tickets I had just got done paying for 17 hours of college and I wasn't able to work while I was taking that many hours so I did not have money to pay off the tickets and I went a whole semester without notifying the county about it. I was wondering if I could claim I was unable to pay the tickets due to the amount of hours I was taking at school and maybe get any penalty fees removed along with being allowed to take defensive driving still? Also if the inspection sticker was not mine and the car was not mine could I get the ticket switched to my cousins name or what?

Re: Tickets and Alot of College Hours
You probably can't get either alternative you are suggesting. Additionally, you are probably in much deeper, since each ticket has probably now gone to warrant status, and will likely double the amount you owe. If stopped, those warrants will get you a trip to jail. You need to call a lawyer to work out a payment arrangement to resolve these tickets in the least painful way possible. Negotiating some of the tickets down, alone, will probably save you the cost of fees and insurance increases and license points.
