Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

Wrecked a friends car with no insurance

I was borrowing my roommates car and got into a single car wreck. She then told me that she did not have insurance on the vehicle. She told me to tell the police she was driving the vehicle cause whe was going to try and cover it on her other policy. Now she decided not to, and there is 5k worth of damages done to the car. Now, she is requesting that I pay for the damages. She is the owner of the vehichle and she did not maintain financial responsibility for the vehicle that she is financing. I offered to HELP her pay for the damages since I was #1-in the state of TX it is the owners responsibility to maintain financial responsibility and #2-I was not aware there was insurance on the vehicle or I would not have been driving it. What grounds to I have to stand on and what are my options

Re: Wrecked a friends car with no insurance

Your options depend upon whether you did as she asked and lied to the police. If so, and that fraud has continued to date, then you both have serious issues, that cannot be resolved here. You need to speak privately with an attorney to explore what options you have.

Were you ticketed? Were you at fault in the accident? Is she going to sue you for the damages?
