Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
I 27 and a adopted child and only child between my mom and dad.
My mom which was 91 when she passed has older children from her previous marriage.
My mom passed away 2 yrs ago and I was not on the will nor told when her will was read.
I didn't do nothing about it and left it alone. Now my dad passed away, he was 60, and I was not told
until the day after my moms daughter made the decision to take my dad off life support. I was devastated.
I feel like I'm being left out of everything. I started to ask questions and called the funeral home to see what all
was done they told me that they were told my dad had no children when trying to retrieve information.
My moms same daughter put a notice on the paper and it stated he had step children but not me. I'm his daughter by law.
They adopted me and they are on my birth certificate as my real mom and dad. They raised me from the time before I started
kindergarten up until I left the house and got married. My dad has no other children. My moms child were never considered his
step children. My moms youngest daughter was a little bit younger than my dad. I was told today that my dad chose her to be his
sole- beneficiary too. I don't know if that means she keeps everything or what. I have no clue what to do or what I can do. I don't know if he has a will and I'm worried that they are going to
try to leave me with nothing. What are my rights? I also found out that the doctors that started his chemotherapy might have been
negligant. My dads suffered a heart-attack and heard that the chemo treatment might have caused it. So how would I go about what
steps to take if I want to take action on it?

call a local probate lawyer..or call us..you have the right of a child of both parents..but could be omitted by a will..which may exist..however, you have to act to succeed
