1. How do we find out if our deceased father had a will?

2. Our father was single. We want to sell his home. Do we have to go thru a secession?

yes you will need a lawyer to file probate to have authority to sell his assets...house etc..call us if we can help or contact a lawyer who handles probate...

You are just going to have to go through his stuff and look for clues. If no will exists, it is possible you can dispose of the house through an affidavit of heirship. If that is not acceptable to the title company, you will need to go through an heirship proceeding. It takes a few months and can cost around $2,000 in legal fees and court costs presuning there are no challenges. It is about the same cost to probate a will if you find one. My sympathy on the loss of your father.
