If an adopted person is put in prison for life may they inherit anything or do they have any legal right when
one of their relatives such as a mother dies?

Under most circumstances, yes, they may inherit. Examples of when they would not inherit would be (1) there is a will disinheriting them or (2) they received a conviction for causing the death of the person from whom they were to inherit. The second is an oversimplification, as that doctrine of law is very complex.
