ailing parent wants to give power of attorney

My ailing parent wants to give me a power of attorney to conduct financial matters. If I take a form to her to sign and have a notary present, am I doing anything that might interfere with my inheritence in her will after she passes away?

It shouldn't, as long as you are honest with the power and your parent has the capacity to grant the power.
