Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
Annual Accounting by Executor
Does Texas law require that an independent executor file an annual accounting in detail of the estate being administered? If so, do I need a Galveston County attorney (I live in Illinois) to formally request this? Or can an Illinois attorney handle this.

Re: Annual Accounting by Executor
An annual accounting is not required under Texas law, unless requested by a devisee or heir. If not voluntarily provided upon request, then a demand for accounting has to be filed in the probate court having jurisdiction over the matter. In your situation, if an accounting wasn't forthcoming, you'd need a probate lawyer in Galveston County.
