Beneficary payments part of estate?

Mom recently passed away. My siblings and I are beneficaries on several policies/retirement accounts. If those monies are paid directly to us, are they considered part of her estate and fair game for nay creditors that might arise?

Insurance proceeds payable to beneficiaries are not part of your mothers estate. Retirement accounts are exempt propery. If the accounts pass to beneficiaries they pass outside of her estate. The only creditors you have to worry about are your own.
