Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Brother against brother

The mom died 11/06 with a last will and testament. She wanted everything she had divided 50/50 between two brothers. The oldest brother is the executor. He will not share any information with the younger brother. He has sent the will to probate without our knowledge. He lists only about 1/4 of her assests on the inventory list and he won't even divide those 50/50. What are our rights? At every turn it seems that the executor has all the rights and the beneficiary has none. I am the wife of the younger brother. Can you please advise what to do? The other problem is that we don't have a fortune to hire an amazing attorney and fight this. Does anyone work for you and then take a part of the profits if you win?

You may qualify for legal assistance. Go to www.texasbar.com and follow the link to legal aid. Alternatively, find a probate attorney in the county where your mom resided and ask for a consultation. Many attorneys will provide a preliminary consultation at no charge. You may be able to work something out with him or her. You need help.
