Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Name change and parent's will

I got married recently and intend to change my last name next year to match my wife's. I'd like to know if my mother will have to amend her will to take my name change into account (I'm the executor and sole beneficiary), or if I can simply provide documentation of the name change when the time comes. Also, she has a medical power of attorney and the same question applies. I live in California, but she lives in Texas and she did both there. Thank you for your time.

Re: Name change and parent's will

The documents describe who the person is at the time of making. She doesn't have to change her documents just because you've changed your name. You will have to show that you are one and the same person when you are called upon to perform.
