How can I find out if a will or estate has been frozen or if someone has contested a will?

Hello there --

The only ways a will can be contested is through probate court. You can check with the county clerk in the counties in which the decedent resided, had land or had significant contacts to see if anything has been filed in regard to the estate. All you generally would need to know would be the date of death (so not to search before that date) and the person's name. Checks must usually be done in person at the clerk's office, but the clerks' staffs are often very helpful and can aid you in the process. Hope this helps.
