Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
contracts
A relative recently bought some oil leases that were in a family trust. At this point it's touch and go if what he did was legal. I knew nothing about the sale until I received a check. I do not want to sell my share. We are trying to work something out. I have 6 months to cash the check before the bank will no longer honor it. If I don't cash the check the relative could possibly get his deal for $1400 less. If I do cash it will I be saying I accept the sale? Can I write ''under protest'' on it?

Re: contracts
The check is a unilateral contract. If you cash the check, you have accepted the offer.
