Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Court Order

My mother died intestate, I am her closest surviving heir and she only had a bank account of $6000.oo left in property. Can I get a Court Order to release this account to me,( the Bank recquires one) WITHOUT hiring a lawyer? And, if not, why not!

The Court will give you an Order to obtain the money in the bank account if your request is made in proper legal form. That's where the lawyer comes in.

Sure you can. Just file the proper application in the proper court, attend the hearing to testify, and present the court with the proper order. It's a piece of cake... if you know what you're doing.

If you don't know what you're doing, go to your county law library and read up on it. Then spend some time at the courthouse watching others do what you'll have to do.

Bear in mind that judges aren't overly sympathetic with pro se applicants that don't know what they're doing.
