Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Debt to an estate

We owed grandma $9,000 and she passed away before we could pay her back. Do we owe the estate this money? There was no contract and nothing was signed just a piece of paper that has record of our debt to grandma. This piece of paper was given to the two executors of the will and they want payment. What are our rights in Texas?

That piece of paper may very well be enough memorialize your debt to your grandmother. It is the part of the executor's job to collect monies owed to the estate. Why would you think that just because she died you didn't still owe the money?
