Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Estate distribution

My father passed a few months ago and the estate was probated. My sister was named executor and we each get 50% of his estate. She wants to sell his house and I want to move in.

My question is how much do I have to pay her? Can she set a price or do I only have to pay for half of the appraised value of the property?

The house was only appraised at $160K and $80K is owed on the property, but my sister wants to sell the property for 200K. So how much do I have to pay?

Re: Estate distribution

You will have to pay the 1/2 of the value of the house. If you can't agree on the value of the house, you can go to court and prove to the judge the value of the house. The judge will determine the value of the house based upon the evidence. Probably take about $10-$15K in legal fees each for you and your sister. Good Luck.
