Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Family found an expensive jewelry item in deceased relative's possessions. The relative died in 1986 and left a will, but this particular item was not included specifically in the will. The will stated possessions such as silverware, keepsakes and books to be distributed equally among his son and daughter. The relative's son took possession of the item at time of relative's death, the item was unknown to the relative's daughter. The relative's daughter died in 1987, leaving three children, the relative's son and his wife died in 1988, leaving one living child. I am wondering how possessions are defined as to ownership and passed down generations if they are not specifically listed in the will.

Too much time has passed to dispute the item. Sorry.
