Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My father passed away and didn't have a living will. I am his only heir. He has personal property, home, vehicles, equipment, tools, etc., but he also has undeveloped property in a subdivision that he ran. This subdivision was handed down to him from his father and now has been passed to me. I think there was an oil company that contacted him within past year and wanted to discuss contract with him to get access to land to develop or place drills. I am lost, I am not sure where I need to begin! HELP!!
