Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My father passed away 8 years ago. I'm his only child. I know he has no will on file. He had a business before he passed, everything was "stolen" out of it after his death. I also received a check for heirship from my grandmother,who has passed as well, was told there may be more to come and that was 4 years ago and I still haven't heard anything else from his side of the family about it. I have checked unclaimed property and have found nothing. How can I go about finding if there is something in my name from him or my grandmother and also if my name has been forged on any legal items? My dad and my mom were married when I was 5 but never legally changed my name which means it could be under my moms maiden name or my fathers last name. I have resided in Texas my whole life as had he and my grandmother. Is there anything I can do?
