Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My Father-in-law died and did not have a will. He remarried 9years ago. His home was paid for long before he remarried. It was never in the new spouse's name, only his. I understand the spouse has the right to live in the house until she dies or moves, but the question that has come up, is ..Does the ownership of the house go to her, or to his estate?
