Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Father's Will

My dad passed away in December. About 20 years ago, he gave all his property, (houses, land, business) to my step brothers. The only thing he had left was the contents of the house and 5 life insurance policies. Four years ago, he had a new will done where he states my step brothers and I are to split the contents of the house equally and named the youngest brother as his executor. His attorney passed away a couple of years ago, and his office called my step brother to come pick up all dad's paperwork. Now, these step brothers can't find the most recent will. The only one they say they can find is the old one, where I'm not mentioned. (I was adopted at 5 days old, so wasn't considered ''blood''.) Dad had a change of heart in his final years. Since the only thing dad really had left was personal property in the house, does a will even need to be filed, or can these brothers just do what they want. Dad bought me a car and it remains in his name. The youngest brother said he'd just date it before dad died and forge dad's name on the title and turn it over to me. What rights do I have here?

Re: Father's Will

You need to consult with an attorney. It may well be worth the cost.
