Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

I just found this month my mom died back in October 2009 and I was wondering my legal status. I live in Houston, TX and my mother lived in Fairbury, Nebraska. My mother married after i was born and I was raised by my grandparents. I have 2 step sisters and a step brother. I'm wondering if I can see if I can get some inheritance. I know my step siblings think I should not get any inheritance and I do not know if there was a will but I need to know how I stand in this matter. I now differenct states have differ laws so I do not know what I should do. I know that my step father and mother had a number of acres and a house or two. Shouldn't I be able to claim some from my mother's estate and for the record my step father died a number of years ago. Can you help me? Thank you.

I do not have computer so I'm using a friends email address.

Thank you.

Check the county records in Nebraska where your mother resided to see if a will was probated. You should be able to get a copy of the records. If no will was probated, contact an attorney in that location to protect your interests.
