should I pass away and leave nothing to grandchildren, can the will be contested as opposed to me leaving them each $1.00, can they contest it then?

Re: grandchildren in will
Whether you leave them nothing or $1.00 apiece will not make a difference. No one has a right to inherit from you. You are free to leave your estate to anyone you wish, and you do not have to explain why you give gifts as you do.
Your grandchildren may decide to contest the will, but their contest would have to be based upon an argument that you were not in your right mind when you signed the will. Grounds for overturning your will would not have anything to do with whether they got any gift.
You may wish to list your children and/or grandchildren in the will, and simply say that you are intentionally not leaving them anything, for reasons which are good and sufficient to yourself. That way they can't say you forgot about them.
