Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My husband died last year. We have a small amount ($300.00) in a money market with Ameriprise.

Because both our names are on it, I am not able to cash it in. I was told that I had to open succession or have some kind of legal form signed. To open succession would cost me too much money. Could you please let me know what kind of form I must have and where I can get it.
