Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Possible Inheriance

Before a friend of mine had major surgery he called me and told me that he was making a new will and leaving money to me. He only had a 50/50 chance of making it through the surgery. There were complications and he is now deceaded. My question is: How do I find out if he did in fact leave me money? I do not know who his attorney is or where he had the will done. He lived in Texas and I live in Ohio. Is there someway I cen get information from Texas about his will? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Wills aren't published in Texas before probate. Someone would have to look into your friend's papers to see if there is a will.
