What are the legalities to insure that my 2 children (18 and 15) receive their inheritance from their deceased paternal grandparents? Their father is an only child who will probably inherit everything once the will is probated. Their grandfather died on May 16, 2002 and the grandmother died on June 4, 2002. I want to make sure that my children (their only 2 grandchildren) receive what is rightfully theirs before their father (who has had credit and money management problems all his life) has a chance to spend his children's inheritance. If it's not in the will, then you'll have to rely upon your children's father's good nature in not spending what is actually his inheritance, and leaving some for his children.
