Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

I inherited the house I was renting. The former owner passed away in July, but the house was not actually transferred into my name until October 15, 2009. I paid rent through the end of October (after the owner died I gave the rent to executor of the estate). I found out today that the property taxes for 2009 have not been paid. The tax bills were mailed to the former owner. I have asked the executor of the will if he had the tax bills and he told me he did not, but he would give them to me if he got them. Am I liable for the full amount of 2009 taxes on this house? The deed was not transferred into my name until October 15.

I believe that the estate should be responsible for taxes through October 15th and that you should be reimbursed 1/2 month's rent - unless there are other facts that would change my mind.
