For a joint will of people who are remarried with children from only their first marriages, are there executors for each family (one for the dad and his children, one for mom and her children?

Don't do joint wills. They're usually disastrous. Also, don't do co-executors. It just over complicates things. Each person should have his or her own will, and have a single executor with alternates. Please don't DIY the wills.
