Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Killed with no Will

My mother-in-law just got killed in a hit and run in TX and had no will. My husbands step-father is taking all the money. My husband has one full blooded sister and a half sister by his step father. The half sister is a minor and i know will be taking care of, however my mother-in-law invested well and my father-in-law has never done anything with his life and now is taking money that was to be left to my sister in laws and husband and said that my mother in law owed him. We are talking in the upward range of $550,000 - $650,000. Is there ANYTHING we can do?

Re: Killed with no Will

Although the husband is entitled to a portion of the estate, if there are children outside the marriage, they will have a share of the estate as well. This is a highly complicated matter, involving the difference between community and separate property, survival damages, and insurance. You should hire competent probate or personal injury counsel NOW.
