Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Leaving stock to a minor.

What is the best way to leave some stock I own to my nephew, a minor, so that his parents will not be able to take it from him and cash it in. The stock is currently in my name, with him listed as the secondary owner. But if I die soon, I want to make sure his parents can't take it from him for the cash. The stock was bought expressly for him to have for his college education, and I want it kept safe until he is 18 and ready to go to college. I don't want his mother getting her hands on it.

Re: Leaving stock to a minor.

You should have provisions in your Will or Revocable Living Trust dictating that the stock is to be held in trust for the benefit of your nephew for purposes of helping finance his college education. Name a Trustee you can count on to follow your wishes.
