Lien on house
a parent passed away left no will, but a house with a lien on it. I want to transfer the title of the house into my name, what will I have to do in order to obtain the title

most title companies require probate..and some accept affidavits of heirship..title is now in the heirs if no will..

What do you want to do with the house? Keep it? Live in it? Sell it? Who has the lien? Are there other estate assets? There isn't enough information to discuss this intelligently with you.

It could be as simple as an affidavit of heirship, or it may require an order from the court depending on the facts surrounding the death. Please consult an attorney.
