Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
Life Estate
I recently purchased my mothers home. She is living in the home with me. We were advised that she needed to do a life estate to keep the property taxes at the current rate. Can we prepare this ourselves and if so how do we do that?

Re: Life Estate
You should really have an attorney prepare the document. My charge is $100 plus filing fee which is usually $9 - $11.

Get a lawyer! You're talking about messing with a document that transfers an interest in real estate. Screw it up, and you'll have an enormous expense trying to get the title straightened out; far more than having a lawyer doing it right the first time.
