Life Estate

I recently purchased my mothers home. She is living in the home with me. We were advised that she needed to do a life estate to keep the property taxes at the current rate. Can we prepare this ourselves and if so how do we do that?

You should really have an attorney prepare the document. My charge is $100 plus filing fee which is usually $9 - $11.

Get a lawyer! You're talking about messing with a document that transfers an interest in real estate. Screw it up, and you'll have an enormous expense trying to get the title straightened out; far more than having a lawyer doing it right the first time.
