Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

I live in Texas, but have just received a summons from the lawyers of a mortgage company listing me as one of the defendants (there are several) in a foreclosure lawsuit. The reason is that I am one of the people listed in a "living trust" of the estate of a now-deceased person. I never received anything from the estate.

The summons says that I am required to send an answer or motion in response to the "First Amended Complaint within 30 days. It also states that if I do not, a default judgment may be entered against me for "relief."

Am I required to hire an attorney to get me through this? I signed no papers for the property in question and am only listed in the trust, which was handled by the deceased spouse and of which I got nothing.

I appreciate your time in helping me with this matter.

You need to call a lawyer. Many lawyers will give this a quick lookover for free or a nominal amount and tell you what you should do.
