Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
How long must I wait?
My dad died 16 months ago. The executor of his will (my mother and/or sister,) refuse to show me the will. I know my dad left me something, but the executor says that she doesn't have to show me the will or divulge its contents for two years. I know that they have two years to file the will in probate court, but must I wait for two years to learn the contents of the will? I checked with probate court and the will has not been filed. Do I have any legal recourse against the executor(s)? They flatly refuse to even discuss the will with me and threaten not to distribute any monies to me.

Re: How long must I wait?
You have four years to file a will and there is no requirement that you wait. The probate code does have a provision to force someone to produce a will in their possession.
