Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas
Mom died intestate with only a paid-off house. Medicaid is filing a claim for $62K which will make the estate insolvent. No other debts or insurance. We have been advised to not pay another cent on the maintenance of the house and walk away. This seems a little drastic, what do you think?

You may be able to work out a deal with MERP in which you sell the house and share the proceeds.
