Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My mother co-signed an auto loan for my brother. He lost his job and quit paying for the truck. My mother passed away about 1 year ago. My sister did not probate the will. Now there is an officer calling looking for the location of the truck. My sister was and is the Executor of my mothers estate. THere was pleanty of money in the estate to pay the loan off when my mother passed away. Is my sister responsible for the loan now that my mother has passed away and my brother can not pay? How can we persuade her to pay the truck off with the proceeds my mother left?
