Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My mother owes me

My father and mother owned a house together. When my dad decided to sell my mother said she would not sign off for him to sell unless she got $15,000 for her and $5,000 for me for school. I was already past the age of 18 at this time but she did not want my dad to give me the money. She wanted it given to her until I started school. Well consenquently I asked several times and got a little of it but she never wanted to give it to me. Then she finally told me she lost it because they had to file bankruptcy or something like that. I believe she still owes me $4000 and would like to find out how to get her to pay it to me. Can you help?

Re: My mother owes me

You can sue her for it in Small Claims. Touch bases with the Civil clerks at the nearest Justice of the Peace and ask if they have a brochure or handout on Small Claims. Most do. Follow the instructions to the letter.

A bankruptcy may have wiped out your mother's obligation to you. But, hey, $4,000 from YOUR MOTHER??? Why don't you just apply for some scholarships or grants and get on with life! BTW - I am still waiting for that washer & dryer MY mother promised me in 1970 as a wedding gift. ;->
