mothers will
my dad died and left my mom everything witch is great. in the will my two brothers and myself are to receive 130 acres my brother is the execeter and says we won't have to pay taxes because the land is valued at close to a million dollars is he right
i think my mom should have been giving us three acres a year that is tax free

The estate pays inheritance tax - not the heirs. Depending on the size of the estate, there may or may not be any tax. On the land, there will be ongoing property tax, however, if you apply for an agricultural exemption once the land is yours, the tax should be very little. Requirements and the procecure for making the application will be at your local county appraisal district. Sorry for the loss of your dad.
