Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

I have been named in my aunts will. She had a trust that is administered by a hugh firm in Houston. She died in Jan. 2011. I have been told that if I call the firm I will be charged 750.00 per hour. I just want to know how long it will take to dispurse the assets, I have medical bill that I could pay with that money.. There is no real property to be disposed of in the estate. Is there any time limit to how long they have to dispurse the assets or can they take as long as they like?

You need to retain an attorney, because you have more issues involved in this case than you think, and there's a wealth of information needed in order to answer your questions that you either don't know or don't have room to provide. Understand that your aunt's Will, and her estate that passes under her Will, may have nothing at all to do with a trust in which your aunt had an interest. If you have been named as a beneficiary under her Will, you have specific rights as a beneficiary of the Will. Those rights may or may not exist with respect to a trust that your aunt had an interest in.

If you're concerned about making sure that your rights are preserved and protected, I strongly encourage you to hire someone that knows what those rights are and how to go about protecting them. I typically practice in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, but routinely counsel with clients all over Texas, and I'd be happy to visit with you more regarding your issue, if you'd like. You may contact me either through my website (www.jbrianthomas.com) or via e-mail [email protected].
