Named beneficiary on deceased Father's bank account

My father died 2 yrs ago at which time I was 16. I am now 18 and need to claim the funds in that account. What is the process for doing this? Are there specific forms required? Is it necessary to go to court?

Re: Named beneficiary on deceased Father's bank account

If you are named as co-owner, you can simply withdraw the money. You may have to establish your identity to the satisfaction of the bank.

If the account is payable to you on death, you will have to establish that your father is deceased, and that you are the named heir. The bank will have forms and procedures for this.
